Getting the hang of this. A Mind That Suits has a perfectly wonderful day job, which he must now go do. That's a pity, as I came up with 10 absolutely smashing posts over my latte and the indispensible Wall Street Journal. Come back around 2:00 Eastern Time (US) and you will not be disappointed.
A Thought to Hold You 'Til Dinner Time. It is a glorious morning, and promises to be a glorious day. We have had a string of them, which reminds me that, in terms of physical qualities, both natural and man-made, there is no city in the whole US of A that is more beautiful than Washington, DC. Too bad the weather stinks--spring lasts two weeks if we are lucky, and some years it hasn't even happened--and the only game in town is still the government. But the trees and the buildings? Magnificent.
No, There Is Another. Annapolis, MD, actually, has the prettiest town center in the US. The rest is mall sprawl, but if you are driving up the East Coast, spend a night in Annapolis. The weather is the same as here--maybe they built things so nicely to compensate for the weather. But it is so beautiful that you will forget it houses the pettiest and most corrupt state government in the nation. The town right next to it is named Parole, as in, "If you are Maryland politician, chances are high you will end up on Parole." I kid you not.
Until later, then...
