A Mind That Suits What doesn't kill me, makes me laugh... usually.

I cruised the internet last night to find anything about my late uncle, the novelist Allen Drury, by any actual fans. In so doing, I stumbled across a very interesting blog run by some lawyers in different cities. Yes, I just did use the words "interesting" and "lawyer" in the same sentence. They seem to have a real eye for the most serious issues, particularly on terorism. And, they like my uncle, so I do not hesitate to recommend them. They call themselves Power Line, and the site is very much worth checking out.

I was just reminded of a moment during my days as "Congressional Liaison" for the United Nations Department of Public Information. I was a G-6 clerk, I think, very young, but responsible for keeping up the (relentless) flow of documents from New York to the Hill and for escorting UN officials around. One day, the UN's General Counsel came down and gave a presentation on the then-new issue of the US not paying everything it technically owed. The gentleman's name was Fleischauer, as I recall. Other business kept me away that night, and when I asked a State Department official how the presentation was, he said it was two hours long and by someone who was both German and a lawyer. 'Nuff said.
