A Mind That Suits What doesn't kill me, makes me laugh... usually.

In response to the comments yesterday on dream automobiles, friend Tom sends in this comment.

What one needs is not a Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. but just an old used Miata. Cheap and lots of fun under 60 mph. A few years ago a friend and I attempted to drive his father's old Ferrari (1962 250GT) across Connecticut. As we headed up Rt. 9 toward Middletown, my friend said, "Look, can you believe this car? It's almost 40 years old and drives straight as an arrow with no play or shimmy." I looked at him in horror--what a thing to say! I knew we were in trouble. Two minutes later the left front brake started smoking and then seized up. We had to have the car flatbedded the rest of the way. Ferraris exist to make their owners look foolish and undeserving of them. So too with Lamborghinis, I bet. A nice little Japanese imitation British sport car shouldn't tempt the Fates too much. With that $300,000 you could start an excellent collection of my paintings.

As friend Tom last wrote in while (he claims, believably) balancing baby in one hand and somehow raising a glass of bourbon to his lips, he must be at the very least dexterous, or is that dextrous. The mother of A Mind That Suits was a wonderful painter, and so he would indeed like to see friend Tom's paintings. A Mind That Suits regrets that his art collecting days will have to wait until he replaces the Taurus. (see below.)
