A Mind That Suits What doesn't kill me, makes me laugh... usually.

In a recurring pattern, President George W. Bush has made yet another announcement consonant with the positions of this blog just hours after they have been pronounced here at A Mind That Suits. Coincidence? You be the judge.

In an interview with an Arab language newspaper, W. said that the transition of political authority to Iraqi people has nothing to do with how fast our troops are going to leave.

Of course, A Mind That Suits has a little trouble believing what this, in many ways, admirable man says about the reasons for the change in Administration policy, but, hey, being President is, in fact, very hard.

If you want to do the job correctly. Which W. does, and his predecessor did not. Consider this quote, from Rich Lowry's Legacy.

Well, actually I can't, because National Review Online has a LOUSY search engine, and the excerpts from Mr. Lowry's obviously excellent Legacy: Paying the Price for the Clinton years are hard to find. The search engine kicks up something from 1997. I knew 1997. 1997 was my friend. The answer to my search query was no 1997.

In any case, what Mr. Lowry has Mr. Clinton saying is, "we need to demystify this office. It's just a job..."or words to that effect.

But it is not "just a job." And Mr. Bush does it so, so very much better than Mr. Clinton that the two men's names should not be mentioned in the same sentence.

Have a great weekend.
