A Mind That Suits What doesn't kill me, makes me laugh... usually.

Today is Thanksgiving, and A Mind That Suits is thankful for a lot, actually: being alive, the person a long and circuitous life has made him, all those many people (famous and not so famous) who helped him along the way, being able to read things by Allen Drury that almost no one else has ever seen, chilling out in North Carolina with his father, talking to the kids that run the local coffee shop, being able to read in four foreign languages, being able to avoid bad liturgical translations (at least in private), an Italian news anchor named Maria-Teresa Busi, Sophia Loren (while we are on Italian ladies), the Hobbit (which he is in the midst of rereading), the way this wonderful country is tied to its past and to the future, the military services (largely comprised of young men) that protect us and sacrifice for us and for people in far away lands, other countries whose governments do such lousy jobs that the United States is continually renewed by their citizens, all the people in those countries who stay and try to make life better there, this Pope and the way that he has taught us all to see everything in a more human and less ideological way, the Roman Church and her liturgy, and the grace that God offers to us all through Jesus Christ. Have a blessed Thanksgiving.
