A Mind That Suits What doesn't kill me, makes me laugh... usually.

Last week of the semester is always a killer, but it is done, and today actually filled up with "ways to tell yourself that you are no longer committed to teaching classes you would really rather not teach." Not a fun semester, all in all. The weekend watching the water polo tournament reminded A Mind That Suits of what teaching can be all about--basically, civilizing savages--but this semester has not brought such a sense of fulfillment at all.

It's a beautiful day in DC--just the right amount of Spring chill and azaleas everywhere. What a gorgeous place.

Except for what so many of the people who live here do to people that they never meet.

Book recommendation: Spin Sisters, by Myran Blyth, recently retired and repentant editor of the Lady's Home Journal. It's subtitle should say it all: "How the Women of the Media Sell Unhappiness and Liberalism to the Women of America." The first chapter is hysterical and enraging. Go, thou, and buy likewise.

Gotta go cater. Later folks.
